Our Story
The Good Start Foundation found its roots in senior students whose efforts in the community over their years active in secondary school are often overlooked by university scholarship applications in favour of general academic achievement.
While academic achievement is vital for academic scholarships, this foundation aims to help students who continually strive to serve their community in and out of school while also maintaining their academic potential and success. Students eligible for assistance from the foundation are those who have continually made efforts to serve their community through volunteering or participation, while also demonstrating great ownership of their learning.
The criteria for the scholarship are:
1. Students who are actively involved in making a difference in their community both at school and outside.
2. Students who are focussed and doing well at school, but not necessarily top of the class.
There are a few scholarships focused on community contribution. It is a part of many scholarships, but high achievement academically, in sports or arts is usually just as or more important. There are very deserving students who go unrecognised for the contribution they make to their own communities and who at the same time maintain academic integrity.

Founded in 2020, Good Start Foundation has been working hard with the help of our trustees to help individuals at secondary schools. Our work is dedicated to funding and delivering scholarships, and we strive to inspire and improve the lives of those who need assistance.
